Prime minister and state leaders pay tributes to Umreth legislator known for social service

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed grief over the demise of Gujarat BJP MLA Govindbhai Parmar, who passed away on March 6 at the age of 72.

In a message shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister described Parmar as a public representative dedicated to social welfare and community service. Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace for the departed soul.

Parmar represented the Umreth constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and had earned recognition among local residents for his work focused on public welfare.

Tributes also poured in from leaders in Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the news of Parmar’s passing was deeply saddening and remembered him for his commitment to serving people at the grassroots level.

In his condolence message, Patel highlighted Parmar’s close connection with the community and said his efforts in public service had earned him widespread respect and popularity.

The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party also expressed shock at the loss of the veteran leader, calling his death an irreplaceable loss for both the organisation and society.

Party leaders and supporters offered prayers for Parmar’s soul and extended sympathies to his family and followers during the difficult time.
