PM Modi Expresses Hope for a Productive Monsoon Session of Parliament and Rainy Season

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges lawmakers to ensure meaningful parliamentary discussions, underscores India's strong economic performance despite global uncertainties, and highlights the country's recent achievements in reforms and space exploration.

New Delhi, July 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed optimism that both the ongoing southwest monsoon and the Monsoon Session of Parliament would prove beneficial for the country. As the session commenced, he urged Members of Parliament (MPs) from all political parties to actively contribute to discussions and legislative business with a spirit of cooperation and responsibility.

Speaking to the media shortly before proceedings began, the Prime Minister stressed that Parliament remains the highest democratic platform for addressing national concerns and shaping policies that directly impact citizens. He appealed to lawmakers to rise above political differences and ensure that the session is marked by constructive debate, meaningful deliberations, and productive outcomes.

Modi said that just as timely rainfall plays a crucial role in strengthening agriculture and supporting the livelihoods of millions of farmers, a successful parliamentary session is equally essential for advancing the country’s development agenda. He expressed hope that both the natural monsoon and the legislative session would contribute positively to India’s overall progress.

Appeal for Active Participation

The Prime Minister called upon MPs to participate wholeheartedly in parliamentary proceedings, emphasizing that every elected representative has a responsibility to voice public concerns while contributing to informed discussions on important national issues.

He noted that citizens expect Parliament to function efficiently, pass key legislation, and debate policies that promote economic growth, social welfare, and national security. According to Modi, meaningful cooperation among political parties strengthens democratic institutions and reinforces public confidence in governance.

India’s Growth Amid Global Uncertainty

Highlighting India’s economic performance, Modi said the country has demonstrated remarkable resilience despite a challenging international environment. He pointed out that geopolitical tensions, particularly the conflict in West Asia, have created significant economic pressures across the world.

The Prime Minister observed that India, being a major importer of crude oil and energy resources, has also faced challenges arising from disruptions in global supply chains and fluctuations in energy prices. Nevertheless, he said the Indian economy continued to perform strongly and maintained a growth rate of 7.7 percent, reflecting the strength of domestic demand, policy stability, and ongoing structural reforms.

He stated that India’s economic resilience has reinforced global confidence in the country’s growth story despite widespread international uncertainty.

Reforms Encouraging Innovation

The Prime Minister credited the government’s reform-driven policies for creating new opportunities, especially for young entrepreneurs, innovators, and professionals. According to him, reforms implemented across various sectors have encouraged India’s youth to think ambitiously and pursue innovative ideas with confidence.

He said initiatives aimed at improving the business environment, promoting digital transformation, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting startups have helped create a favourable ecosystem for innovation and employment generation.

Modi added that the government’s emphasis on long-term reforms continues to position India as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.

Achievements Across Key Sectors

The Prime Minister also highlighted several important milestones achieved by the country over the past month. He said India has continued to make rapid progress in strategic sectors, including science, technology, and space exploration.

He pointed to the country’s growing capabilities in the space sector as evidence of India’s expanding technological strength and the increasing contribution of scientists, researchers, and engineers. These accomplishments, he said, demonstrate India’s commitment to innovation and self-reliance while enhancing its global standing.

Expectations from the Monsoon Session

The Monsoon Session is expected to witness discussions on a range of significant legislative proposals, economic matters, and issues of national importance. Several bills are likely to be introduced, while debates are also anticipated on domestic governance, foreign policy, and welfare programmes.

The government has expressed hope that Parliament will function smoothly, allowing adequate time for legislative business and discussions on subjects affecting the country’s future.

Focus on National Development

Reiterating his message, Prime Minister Modi said India’s progress depends on collective efforts and responsible democratic participation. He urged all political parties to work together in the interest of the nation and ensure that parliamentary proceedings reflect the aspirations of the people.

He concluded by expressing confidence that constructive dialogue, effective policymaking, and cooperative governance would help India continue its journey toward sustained economic growth and comprehensive national development.
