New Delhi, Dec 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, as an enduring symbol of courage, compassion, and sacrifice. He said the Guru’s life and teachings continue to inspire people to uphold truth, justice, righteousness, and human dignity.
Speaking on the occasion of Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Modi said, “On this sacred day, we bow in reverence to him. He remains an embodiment of courage, compassion, and sacrifice. His life and teachings inspire us to stand for truth, justice, righteousness, and to protect human dignity.” The Prime Minister shared pictures from his earlier visit to Takhat Sri Harimandir Patna Sahib, where he paid respects to the holy ‘Jore Sahib’ belonging to Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur.
Modi also highlighted the observance of Veer Bal Diwas, announced in January 2022 to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibzades Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, sons of Guru Gobind Singh. Across the country, programmes are being held to educate citizens about the extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice of the young Sahibzades.
Addressing an event on Veer Bal Diwas on Friday, Modi said, “The supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades represents the ultimate expression of India’s indomitable courage, valour, and bravery against the cruel Mughal Sultanate, shaking the very existence of religious fanaticism and terror.”
