PM Modi Hails Agreement on Trump’s West Asia Peace Plan

Indian Prime Minister hails agreement between Israel and Hamas, emphasizing hope for hostage release and humanitarian relief in Gaza.

New Delhi, Oct 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for West Asia, under which Israel and Hamas have agreed to pause fighting in Gaza.

In a post on X, Modi described the agreement as a reflection of the “strong leadership” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He expressed hope that the release of hostages and provision of enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza would bring relief and pave the way for lasting peace.

The deal, facilitated by the Trump administration, marks the most significant breakthrough in months in the two year long conflict, with both sides agreeing to halt hostilities and release at least some hostages and prisoners.

“This agreement is a positive step towards peace in the region and reflects the importance of dialogue and strong leadership in resolving prolonged conflicts,” Modi added.
