New Delhi, Jan 19: On the Raising Day of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt appreciation to the men and women of the force, praising their professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment in times of crisis.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote:

“Always at the forefront when a calamity strikes, NDRF personnel work tirelessly to protect lives, provide relief, and restore hope under the most challenging circumstances. Their skills and sense of duty exemplify the highest standards of service.”

The Prime Minister highlighted that the NDRF has become a benchmark in disaster preparedness and response, earning respect both nationally and internationally.

Several other leaders joined in acknowledging the force’s contributions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the NDRF for its swift response and selfless service, while Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the force as a pillar of trust for the nation, paying tribute to personnel who sacrificed their lives in service of others.

Established on January 19, 2006, under the Disaster Management Act, the NDRF comprises 16 specialised battalions deployed across 68 strategic locations nationwide. These units have played a critical role in rescue, relief, and evacuation operations, responding swiftly to natural and man made disasters.

The force’s motto, “Aapada Seva Sadaiv Sarvatra”, reflects its enduring commitment to disaster response, which the NDRF has consistently demonstrated over nearly two decades of service.
