Amman, Dec 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the signing of five key agreements during his visit to Jordan reflects the growing depth and diversity of bilateral ties between the two countries, underlining shared priorities in clean energy, water security, digital innovation and cultural exchange.
Highlighting the outcomes of the visit, PM Modi said cooperation in new and renewable energy showcases India and Jordan’s joint commitment to clean growth, energy security and climate responsibility. He noted that collaboration in water resources management would enable both sides to exchange best practices in conservation, efficiency and technology to ensure long-term water security.
The Prime Minister said the Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora would pave the way for academic exchanges, heritage conservation initiatives and tourism promotion, while the renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme would strengthen people to people ties. Sharing India’s digital innovations, he added, would support Jordan’s digital transformation and promote inclusive governance.
During the visit, PM Modi was received by King Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional stability and global issues. Talks also covered trade and investment, defence and security, counter-terrorism, agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy and tourism, with both sides reaffirming a united stand against terrorism.
