New Delhi, Oct 1: Chhattisgarh will host the 60th edition of the All India DGP-IGP Conference for the first time next month, bringing together senior police officials to discuss critical issues like internal security, anti-Naxal operations, border management, and cyber security.
The three-day conference, starting November 28, will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with the valedictory session expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Around 250 officers in the rank of DGP and IGP will attend in person, while over 200 others will join virtually.
This year, the conference will place special emphasis on Naxal-affected regions, particularly Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, where joint operations by state and central forces have achieved notable success. Officials said the conference will explore strategies to consolidate these gains and further strengthen counter-Naxal efforts. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already set a deadline of March 31, 2026, to completely eradicate Naxal activity in the country.
Other key topics on the agenda include narcotics eradication, Jammu and Kashmir’s security situation, and overall border management. The conference will also feature free-flowing discussions over meals, giving senior officials a platform to share insights and recommendations directly with the Prime Minister.
Since 2014, the Modi government has taken the annual DGP-IGP meet outside New Delhi, with previous editions held in Guwahati (2014), Dhordo, Rann of Kutch (2015), Hyderabad (2016), Tekanpur (2017), Kevadiya (2018), Pune (2019), Lucknow (2021), Pusa, Delhi (2023), Jaipur (Jan 2024), and Bhubaneswar (Nov 2024).
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Chhattisgarh on November 1 to attend the State Foundation Day celebrations.
