New Delhi, Oct 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a heartfelt Diwali message to the nation, highlighted India’s decisive achievements, including Operation Sindoor and the fight against Naxalism, stating that the country has “upheld righteousness and avenged injustice.”
In a letter addressed to citizens, PM Modi said that Bharat has emerged as a symbol of stability and sensitivity at a time when the world faces multiple crises. “Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and gives us the courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this during Operation Sindoor when Bharat not only upheld righteousness but also avenged injustice,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Modi noted that this Diwali is especially meaningful as many districts once affected by Naxal and Maoist violence are now free from extremism. “In recent times, we have seen many individuals abandoning the path of violence and joining the mainstream of development, expressing faith in the Constitution. This is a major achievement for the nation,” he said.
Referring to key reforms, Modi cited the recent GST rate reduction as a historic move that has led to substantial savings for citizens. “On the first day of Navratri, lower GST rates were implemented. During this ‘GST Bachat Utsav’, citizens are saving thousands of crores of rupees,” he said.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, crediting the nation’s resilience and reform-driven growth for its progress.
Calling on citizens to contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), Modi urged them to adopt swadeshi, respect all Indian languages, maintain cleanliness, prioritize health, and practice yoga. “Let us proudly say, ‘This is swadeshi’. Let us reduce the use of oil in our food by 10 per cent, promote ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, and embrace a balanced lifestyle,” he advised.
The Prime Minister concluded his message with a symbolic call for unity: “Deepavali teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light grows brighter. Let us light lamps of harmony, cooperation, and positivity in our society this Deepavali.”
The letter comes a day after PM Modi celebrated Diwali with Navy personnel aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, continuing his tradition of spending the festival with the armed forces.
