NEW DELHI, Aug 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly appointed national office-bearers, urging the organisation to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to strengthen its grassroots presence and connect more closely with the public.
The meeting marked the first interaction of the newly constituted team with both BJP president Nitin Nabin and the prime minister since the appointments were announced on August 17.
Modi said organisational deliberations provide an opportunity to exchange new ideas and develop strategies to further strengthen the party. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong connection with people through the organisation.
The meeting was attended by several prominent members of the new national team, including BJP vice-presidents Ram Madhav and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Among the general secretaries present were former Union minister Smriti Irani and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. BJP general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who serves as the party’s treasurer, were also part of the interaction.
The BJP said the prime minister shared his insights with the newly appointed organisational team, with discussions aimed at improving the party’s functioning and strengthening its engagement with citizens.
The national team headed by Nabin consists of 65 office bearers, including 51 new members, reflecting a significant organisational reshuffle.
According to party sources, Saturday’s deliberations focused on preparations for the forthcoming state Assembly elections, strengthening mobilisation at the grassroots and taking government welfare and development initiatives to the people.
The discussions are expected to provide direction to the party’s organisational activities as it prepares for the upcoming electoral challenges. The emphasis on grassroots mobilisation and public outreach is likely to remain central to the BJP’s strategy in the months ahead.
