New Delhi, Nov 5 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid heartfelt tribute to the late Sharda Sinha, fondly known as Bihar Kokila, on her first death anniversary, acknowledging her unparalleled contribution to preserving and popularizing Bihar’s folk music and cultural heritage.
“On the first death anniversary of Bihar Kokila Sharda Sinha ji, heartfelt tribute to her,” PM Modi said in a post on X. “She gave a new identity to Bihar’s art and culture through folk songs, for which she will always be remembered. Her melodious songs associated with the Chhath festival will remain etched in the hearts of the people forever,” he added.
Sharda Sinha, celebrated for her soulful renditions of traditional Bihari folk songs, particularly those performed during Chhath Puja, became a beloved figure across generations. Her music not only captivated audiences but also earned her the revered title of ‘Bihar Kokila,’ cementing her legacy as a cultural icon of the state.
