New Delhi, Jan 30 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, underscoring the enduring relevance of Gandhiji’s call for swadeshi in building a developed and self reliant India.

In a message shared on X, Modi said Mahatma Gandhi consistently stressed the importance of swadeshi, describing it as a foundational principle that continues to guide India’s path towards growth and self reliance.

Paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, the Prime Minister said Gandhi’s life and values would remain a lasting source of inspiration for the country, encouraging citizens to follow the path of duty and service.

India observes January 30 as Martyrs’ Day to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary and honour his lifelong commitment to peace, justice and freedom, as well as his ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
