NEW DELHI, Jul 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday welcomed two major decisions taken by the Union Cabinet, describing them as significant steps toward accelerating India’s infrastructure and industrial development. The Cabinet approved the construction of additional railway lines on the Ballari-Guntakal route and launched a new scheme worth Rs 3,030 crore to establish three large integrated chemical parks across the country.
The Prime Minister said the initiatives would improve transport efficiency, strengthen industrial competitiveness, generate employment, and encourage long-term economic growth.
Railway Project to Improve Connectivity
The Cabinet cleared a proposal to add third and fourth railway lines along the Ballari-Guntakal section, which passes through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The project will be implemented with an approved investment of Rs 1,264 crore.
According to the government, the additional rail lines will ease congestion on one of the region’s busy freight and passenger corridors while improving operational efficiency. The upgraded route is expected to facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers, benefiting industries, businesses, and local communities.
Prime Minister Modi, in a post on social media platform X, said the railway expansion would also improve access to important cultural, religious, and tourist destinations, opening new opportunities for regional economic development.
He added that strengthening railway infrastructure remains a key priority for enhancing connectivity and supporting balanced growth across states.
BHAVYA-Rasayan Scheme Approved
The Union Cabinet also approved the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana Rasayan (BHAVYA-Rasayan) Scheme, with a total outlay of Rs 3,030 crore, to establish three dedicated chemical parks equipped with modern industrial infrastructure.
The Prime Minister described the decision as an important milestone in strengthening India’s chemical and petrochemical manufacturing ecosystem.
The upcoming parks will feature plug-and-play industrial facilities, reliable utility services, common infrastructure, and robust environmental safeguards, creating an ecosystem designed to attract both domestic and international investors.
The government expects the integrated parks to simplify industrial operations by providing ready-to-use infrastructure, reducing project implementation time for manufacturers.
Lower Costs and Higher Competitiveness
The Prime Minister highlighted that the new chemical parks would help lower logistics and production expenses, making Indian manufacturers more competitive in global markets.
The initiative is also expected to support import substitution, increase exports, and encourage investments across several downstream industries that rely on chemical and petrochemical products.
Officials believe the scheme will strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities while improving supply-chain efficiency and reducing dependence on imported raw materials in key industrial sectors.
Boost for Employment and Industrial Growth
Apart from attracting fresh investments, the approved projects are expected to generate significant employment during both construction and operational phases.
The railway expansion is likely to stimulate economic activity along the Ballari-Guntakal corridor by improving freight movement and supporting industrial clusters.
