New Delhi, Oct 01 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut a speedy recovery after the latter announced a temporary withdrawal from public life due to health concerns.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Praying for your speedy recovery and good health, Sanjay Raut Ji.”
Responding to the Prime Minister’s gesture, Raut wrote in Hindi, “Respected Prime Minister Ji, thank you! My family is grateful to you! Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!”
The exchange followed Raut’s announcement earlier in the day that his health had deteriorated and that he would be staying away from political activities for two months based on medical advice.
In a letter addressed to party workers and posted on X, Raut wrote in Marathi, “Jai Maharashtra! You have always supported me, but my health has suddenly worsened. Treatment is ongoing, and doctors have advised me to avoid public gatherings. I’m confident I’ll recover soon and meet you all in the new year. Please keep me in your prayers.”
The announcement came as a surprise to many in Maharashtra’s political circles, especially with the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections approaching. Raut was expected to attend an Opposition rally in Mumbai on November 1 against alleged manipulation of voter lists, an event he had helped organise.
The Sena MP was earlier admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mulund on October 13 after feeling unwell and undergoing several medical tests. Known for his fiery political commentary and unwavering loyalty to Uddhav Thackeray, Raut is also a former journalist and the writer-producer of the biopic Thackeray, based on the life of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.
