PM Modi Says BRICS Nations Have Turned Shared Vision into Win-Win Cooperation

India’s BRICS presidency has prioritised resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability to promote inclusive global growth.

NEW DELHI, Sept 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India’s BRICS presidency had focused on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability, helping member countries turn their shared vision into mutually beneficial collaboration.

Addressing the open session on the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Modi highlighted several initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among member states and supporting inclusive global growth.

He said the BRICS Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation Framework would contribute to making supply chains more reliable and resilient, particularly amid growing global uncertainties.

“Under India’s presidency, we have focused all our efforts on four pillars: resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability. I am pleased that, with your cooperation and support, we have been able to transform our shared vision into a win-win collaboration,” the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting the innovation agenda, Modi said the BRICS Incubator Network would help connect startups and incubators across member countries. He also referred to India’s proposal for a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund aimed at encouraging innovative and scalable solutions.

The Prime Minister also underlined the potential of the BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture to create new opportunities for farmers. He said emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, geospatial technology and digital public infrastructure could be aligned with farmers’ practical needs.

Modi cautioned that the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals could obstruct collective progress. He stressed the importance of ensuring inclusivity while adopting new technologies so that their benefits reach a wider section of society.

The open session is being held under the theme, ‘Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth.’

Earlier, Modi welcomed BRICS leaders on the second day of the summit. The discussions are providing an opportunity for participating countries to deliberate on issues of common interest and explore ways to deepen cooperation while promoting a more inclusive model of global economic growth.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
