NEW DELHI, Mar 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a telephonic conversation with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu to review the rapidly evolving security situation in West Asia and convey India’s concerns.
In a post on X, Modi said he emphasised the protection of civilians and underscored the importance of restoring peace at the earliest. India reiterated its position that hostilities must cease promptly to prevent further destabilisation in the region.
The exchange followed recent military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran subsequently launched retaliatory missile attacks targeting Israel and other parts of West Asia.
A day earlier, Modi also spoke with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, condemning attacks on the Gulf nation and expressing solidarity during the ongoing crisis.
India has been closely monitoring developments as tensions continue to rise across the region.
