New Delhi, Sept 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate as the Chief Guest in the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on October 1, 2025, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, at 10:30 AM, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced.
During the event, PM Modi will release a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin to honour the RSS’s contributions to the nation and will address the gathering.
Earlier, while speaking on Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi lauded the RSS for its “unprecedented and inspiring” 100-year journey, coinciding with Vijayadashami. He reflected on the Sangh’s formation amid India’s pre-Independence identity crisis and praised its founding by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925.
“100 years ago, when the RSS was founded, the country had been bound in the chains of slavery for centuries, deeply impacting our self-respect and self-confidence,” PM Modi said. “Hedgewar ji founded the RSS on Vijayadashami, and Guruji carried forward this mission of national service.”
The Prime Minister highlighted the RSS’s nation-first approach, its role in disaster relief, and its emphasis on discipline, patriotism, and social responsibility. “The Sangh’s teachings continue to guide citizens in fostering national unity, courage, and service,” he added.
Founded in Nagpur in 1925, the RSS has evolved as a volunteer-based organisation dedicated to the “Sarvangeena Unnati” (all-round development) of India. Over the past century, RSS volunteers have actively contributed to education, health, social welfare, and disaster relief, while affiliated organisations have empowered youth, women, and farmers, strengthening communities across the country.
The centenary celebrations honour the RSS’s historical achievements and its enduring role in India’s cultural and national development, reinforcing its message of unity and service.
