New Delhi, Nov 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the year-long commemoration of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Friday, November 7.
The event marks 150 years since the song was composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875. “Tomorrow, 7th November, is a momentous day for every Indian. We celebrate 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram, a stirring call that has inspired generations and ignited an undying spirit of patriotism across our nation,” PM Modi posted on X.
The inauguration will also feature the release of a commemorative stamp and coin. A nationwide mass recital of Vande Mataram is scheduled for 9:50 AM, aiming to reconnect citizens with the song’s patriotic and cultural significance.
Similar events are planned in Maharashtra and at iconic sites across India, including the Kargil War Memorial and the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The celebrations are designed to honor the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram and its role in inspiring the nation’s patriotic spirit throughout India’s history.
