New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair a two day brainstorming session of Union Cabinet ministers next week, with discussions expected to focus on governance, policymaking and reforms across various sectors, sources said.
The meeting will take place in New Delhi on September 23 and 24 and will bring together all Union Cabinet ministers, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Cabinet ministers have been directed to remain in the national capital next week to prepare for and participate in the discussions. It remains unclear whether ministers of state will also be part of the session.
During the meeting, some ministers are expected to present an overview of initiatives and policies implemented by their respective ministries to accelerate reforms and improve governance.
The discussions are likely to examine measures aimed at making policymaking more effective, responsive and outcome oriented. Ministers may also review the implementation of major government schemes and assess progress across different sectors.
Improving coordination between ministries is also expected to be an important part of the deliberations. Other areas likely to come under discussion include public service delivery, time management, policy execution and future priorities of the government.
The prime minister has repeatedly stressed the need for reforms that directly address citizens’ concerns and improve ease of living. These priorities are expected to guide the deliberations during the two-day session.
The meeting is also likely to provide an opportunity for ministers to assess ongoing programmes, identify areas requiring greater attention and discuss strategies for improving the delivery of government services.
With the government continuing to focus on administrative and policy reforms, the session is expected to serve as a platform for reviewing progress and discussing the roadmap for the next phase of governance.
