Police arrest two accused in late-night firing case, hunt on for third

Jammu, Feb 24: In a swift operation, Jammu Police arrested two alleged criminals just hours after they fired gunshots outside a marriage hall in Miran Sahib. Two pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession, officials said on Monday.

According to a police spokesperson, the accused—identified as Rajat Raina alias “Rishu” and Raghunandan Kesar alias “Raghu”, both residents of Marh—were intercepted and apprehended while traveling in an SUV on Ring Road near Miran Sahib. Their arrest followed a late-night firing incident on Sunday, in which they, along with another accomplice, Goura Jatt, opened fire outside a wedding venue before fleeing the scene.

Although no casualties were reported in the incident, the police acted swiftly, launching a manhunt to nab the suspects. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized two pistols, three live rounds, and one empty shell from the arrested duo. Their vehicle was also confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation.

Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the third suspect, Goura Jatt, who remains at large. Meanwhile, a case has been registered, and further investigations are in progress to determine the motive behind the firing and any potential criminal links of the accused.

The police have reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on criminal activities and ensuring public safety in the region.
