- Case registered under Immoral Traffic Act at Channi Himmat Police Station after rescue operation
JAMMU, Mar 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police have claimed to have busted a prostitution racket allegedly operating in Jammu city, rescuing three teenage girls and arresting three persons, including a woman, during a raid in the Greater Kailash area.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was initiated after the police received specific information about alleged immoral activities being carried out from a house said to be owned by one Amreek Singh in Greater Kailash. Acting on the inputs, a police team conducted a raid at the premises and recovered three teenage girls from the location.
Police said three individuals were apprehended on the spot for their alleged involvement in the illegal activities. The spokesperson added that further legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of law, and the matter is being investigated to establish the full extent of the alleged operation.
Based on preliminary findings, police suspect the house was being used for trafficking-related activities, where women were allegedly procured and induced into prostitution. The police also claimed that certain persons present at the scene were allegedly engaging the girls in prostitution for money.
A case has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and the investigation is underway to identify possible links, accomplices and the wider network, if any.
