NEW DELHI, Sept 10: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s office on Thursday cautioned the public against fraudulent videos circulating on social media that use AI-generated images and a digitally created version of her voice to solicit investments.
The office said the misleading clips were being shared across platforms including WhatsApp and Instagram, with viewers being encouraged to put money into purported investment opportunities.
In a post on Instagram, the office made it clear that the videos were not genuine and warned people against interacting with the messages or transferring any money.
It urged social media users not to click on links or respond to requests for investment made through such content.
The statement also advised people who encounter the posts to report them to the respective platforms and block the accounts or profiles involved.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create convincing videos and audio featuring public figures without their permission.
Such manipulated content can make fraudulent appeals appear authentic and potentially mislead users into sharing personal information or transferring funds.
The office appealed to the public to exercise caution when encountering investment related messages featuring familiar personalities, particularly when the content is circulated through unofficial social media accounts or messaging groups.
It reiterated that the videos in question were scams and asked people to avoid engaging with them.
