KATHUA, JULY 19: Public Works Department, Kathua has rebutted news report doing round in various Facebook Pages/ Web portals operating under different name and style about the washing away of 4-Lane 25 mtrs long vented causeway over Nallah approach road connecting Government Medical College, Kathua with National Highway.
Executive Engineer, PWD ( R&B) Kathua said that the contents of the news are totally incorrect and attempts are being made to malign the image of the department.
The Social Media viz Facebook pages operated by different Admin’s had reported that the construction of was washed away due to heavy rain is due to callous attitude of the PWD and also alleged that work done on the said vented causeway by the PWD is not of the required quality.
The concerned Officer said in view of the delaying of Authorisation, Design approval, PWD has made temporary provisions of connectivity and for its time to time restoration so as to avoid any inconvenience to GMC authorities. Moreover, the current restoration work is not a part of the allotted work and does not involve any financial expenditure, the officer clarified.
However, the concerned Officer informed that the vented causeway was not a part of the GMC Kathua earlier and the same was added in the later stage which requires authorization of the indenting Department. The project stands authorized and now allotted to the Contractor and is under process for vetting in Design Directorate (Highways and Bridges) for design. The work shall be started soon after the design got vetted by the concerned authority.
