PUDUCHERRY, Aug 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday presented the prestigious President’s Police Colour to the Puducherry Police at a ceremony held at the Police Ground in Gorimedu.
Shah handed over the ceremonial flag to the Puducherry Police during the presentation ceremony at the Police Training Ground, marking an important recognition of the force’s service and contribution.
The Union Home Minister is also scheduled to flag off a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally at Muruga Theatre Signal later in the afternoon as part of the nationwide campaign celebrating the national flag.
Shah arrived in Puducherry on Saturday, where he was received by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Cabinet ministers, legislators, BJP state president V P Ramalingam and former Speaker R Selvam.
During his visit to neighbouring Tamil Nadu on Saturday, Shah offered prayers at the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai. In a post on X, he said he sought the blessings of Lord Mahadeva for the happiness and prosperity of every citizen.
He also visited Sri Ramanasramam and recalled the teachings of sage Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharshi, describing them as a source of wisdom that would continue to guide humanity.
In his post, Shah prayed that the blessings of the revered saint would bring well being and prosperity to people.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the Home Minister inaugurated a Security Operations Centre for Urban Cooperative Banks along with core banking and allied services under a nationwide service bundle.
The event also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).
Addressing the gathering at the BSE International Convention Centre, Shah said the long-awaited umbrella organisation for urban cooperative banks had now become a reality following recognition from the Reserve Bank of India, adequate capitalisation and the establishment of its new office.
