Punjab Police Bust Cross Border Smuggling Racket, Arrest Two With Arms Cache

Ferozepur Police recover six Glock pistols; probe reveals direct links with Pakistan based arms traffickers

Chandigarh, Nov 11: Punjab Police on Tuesday said it has busted a major cross-border weapon smuggling network with the arrest of two individuals in Ferozepur district.
The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky, were found in possession of six Glock 9mm pistols, four magazines, and four live cartridges, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said.
According to the DGP, preliminary investigation revealed that Vikramjeet Singh had direct links with a Pakistan based smuggler involved in illegal arms trafficking. Acting on instructions from his handlers across the border, Vikramjeet supplied weapons to local contacts within Punjab.
Yadav added that the arrests also helped trace an earlier case related to the procurement of an AK-47 rifle from the same cross border network. Technical analysis of the seized digital devices is currently underway to identify the full supply chain, including the foreign handlers and local collaborators.
The Punjab Police continue to intensify efforts to dismantle such transnational smuggling networks threatening the state’s internal security.
