CHANDIGARH, March 23: The Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police has dismantled a drug smuggling network in Amritsar, arresting two individuals and recovering 5 kilograms of heroin, officials confirmed.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that initial investigations point to the involvement of a Pakistan based smuggler along with a foreign handler coordinating cross border narcotics consignments.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar, and authorities have launched a deeper probe to trace the wider network and identify other operatives involved.

Officials said the operation is part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at curbing drug trafficking and dismantling international smuggling links in the region.
