Punjab Police Busts International Drug Smuggling Network, Seize 10 Kg ICE and 4 Kg Heroin

Dubai-Based Smuggling Network Under Scanner After Two Arrested in Amritsar

CHANDIGARH, May 20: In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics trafficking, the Punjab Police on Wednesday dismantled an international drug smuggling module with the arrest of two alleged operatives and the seizure of 10 kilograms of ICE (methamphetamine) along with 4 kilograms of heroin.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were allegedly working in coordination with a Dubai-based drug smuggler operating from Abu Dhabi or Dubai. The suspects were reportedly following instructions from the overseas handler to transport and distribute narcotics across Punjab and Delhi.

According to the police, one of the arrested individuals had recently returned from Dubai, where he was allegedly trained in drug transportation methods and assigned the responsibility of moving consignments of heroin and ICE into India. Authorities suspect that the accused played a key role in supplying narcotics across Punjab’s Majha and Doaba regions.

The police believe the smuggling network was part of a larger international syndicate involved in trafficking synthetic drugs and heroin through well-organised channels. Officials are now probing the financial transactions, communication networks and logistics used by the accused to operate the illegal trade.

An FIR has been registered at the Chheharta Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Punjab Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify both backward and forward linkages of the module, trace additional members connected to the racket and uncover possible interstate and international connections tied to the operation.
