Punjab Police Cracks Pakistan Linked Narco-Hawala Network, Arrests Two Key Operators

Two Key Handlers Arrested in Major Trans-Border Narcotics Smuggling Crackdown

Chandigarh, Oct 8: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border drug trafficking, Punjab Police on Wednesday busted a Pakistan-based narco hawala network, arresting two key operators and seizing over 5 kg of heroin along with Rs 29.16 lakh in drug money.

According to officials, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Ferozepur police led the operation targeting the “well-organised” syndicate. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the recovery, stating, “Two key handlers, Sajan s/o Ramesh and Resham s/o Younis, linked to a notorious Pakistan based smuggler, have been arrested.”

The suspects were reportedly managing large heroin consignments and hawala transactions across Ferozepur and surrounding areas. Police have registered an FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace both upstream and downstream connections of the narco-hawala module.

Officials highlighted that the operation underscores Punjab Police’s commitment to curbing trans border narcotics smuggling and dismantling organised crime networks operating in the region.
