Punjab Police Seize 30 Kg Heroin, Arrest Six in Major Drug Bust

Six arrested as probe points to Dubai-based handler and suspected hawala links

CHANDIGARH, Jun 11: Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border narcotics network with the arrest of six alleged operatives and the seizure of more than 30 kilograms of heroin, officials said on Thursday.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were connected to a Dubai-based smuggler who was coordinating the delivery of heroin consignments from across the international border.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Chheharta police station in Amritsar.

Police said investigators are working to uncover the cartel’s wider network, including its supply chain, local collaborators and financial operations. Efforts are also underway to trace money trails and examine possible hawala transactions linked to the smuggling racket.

Further arrests and recoveries are not being ruled out as the investigation progresses, officials added.
