Jammu, 04-09-2024 : Purnima Jamwal has been appointed as the President of the Women’s Wing for the Jammu East Constituency by the Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement was made by the party’s Chief Convenor and President, who warmly welcomed Purnima Jamwal to the role on behalf of all party members. He emphasized that even after 77 years of independence, women continue to face discrimination, and it’s time to ensure they receive their rightful place in the political arena of a vibrant democracy.
Purnima Jamwal comes from a distinguished and illustrious Dogra family with a strong military legacy. Her father served the nation as a naval officer, and her grandfather, Brigadier Ghansara Singh, was the governor of Gilgit in 1947. He was taken prisoner during a joint conspiracy involving the British and Muslims at that time. Purnima, a young, energetic, and visionary woman, holds a strategic management degree from the UK and has a keen interest in interior decoration. Although she is new to politics, she has the potential to become a valuable asset to the Sainik Samaj Party. Her leadership is expected to inspire young women in Jammu and Kashmir and beyond, encouraging them to pursue their political ambitions.
In his remarks, the party President also called upon women, or Nari Shakti, to join the Sainik Samaj Party and consider running for assembly and municipal elections under its banner. The event was attended by several notable party members, including Rajive Luthra, General Secretary of Art and Culture, Sanjiv Luthra, President of Jammu East Constituency, and Sumit Sharma, President of Jammu West Constituency.
