Raghav Chadha Named Chairman of Rajya Sabha Committee on Petitions

Upper House reconstitutes key parliamentary panel; new members nominated to legislative committees

NEW DELHI, May 23: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Rajya Sabha following the reconstitution of the parliamentary panel by the Upper House secretariat.

According to an official notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan nominated 10 members to the committee with effect from May 20, 2026.

The notification stated that Chadha would head the committee, which examines petitions presented before the Rajya Sabha and makes recommendations on matters of public importance and legislative concerns.

Other members nominated to the panel include Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P.

In a separate notification, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat announced that Menaka Guruswamy has been nominated as a member of the Joint Committee examining the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

The parliamentary panel is tasked with reviewing proposed amendments related to corporate governance, compliance frameworks and business regulations before the legislation is taken up for further discussion in Parliament.

The latest appointments are part of the ongoing reconstitution of various parliamentary committees aimed at strengthening legislative scrutiny and committee based policy discussions in the Upper House.
