Rahul Gandhi Calls for Industrial Strategy, Not Empty Rhetoric, to Propel India’s Tech Future

India needs a strong production base, not empty words, to lead in new technology, create jobs, and secure its industrial future.

New Delhi, Feb 15: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has emphasized the urgent need for India to shift from rhetoric to action in order to establish itself as a global leader in emerging technologies. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi criticized the Narendra Modi-led government, arguing that while India possesses immense talent and technical expertise, it lacks the necessary production base to harness new-age innovations effectively.

Pointing to China’s advancements in drone technology, he noted how the country has built a robust industrial ecosystem that enables cutting-edge developments. “Drones have transformed modern warfare, integrating batteries, motors, optics, and communication systems in unprecedented ways. But they are not just a singular technology; they are products of a well-established industrial system,” he stated.

In a veiled attack on Prime Minister Modi, Gandhi accused him of focusing on rhetoric rather than concrete action. “Unfortunately, PM Modi has failed to grasp this reality. While he delivers ‘teleprompter’ speeches on AI, our competitors are mastering new technologies. India needs a strong production base, not empty words,” he asserted.

The Congress leader stressed that India’s youth require more than political promises—they need a clear industrial strategy that creates jobs and positions the country as a powerhouse in the global tech landscape. “India has the talent, scale, and drive. But without a clear vision and real industrial prowess, we risk falling behind,” he cautioned.

Alongside his post, Gandhi shared a nine-minute video on drone technology, underscoring that India has the skills to develop and manufacture advanced systems. His remarks signal the Congress party’s broader push for a policy-driven approach to industrial and technological growth, positioning innovation as a key pillar for national development.
