New Delhi, 11-07-2024: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur personally and address the ongoing crisis in the state. Gandhi emphasized that Manipur has been severely affected by violence, resulting in the division of the state and the displacement of thousands of families into relief camps. He stated that despite repeated visits, the situation has not improved, with homes burning and lives at risk.
In a statement on the microblogging site X, Gandhi underscored the urgent need for the Prime Minister to engage directly with the people of Manipur, listen to their grievances, and make a heartfelt appeal for peace. He announced that Congress Party and INDIA bloc MPs would vigorously raise the issue in Parliament, advocating for immediate measures to restore peace and alleviate the suffering of the affected population.
