Rahul Gandhi Felicitates Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for Historic T20 World Cup Triumph

Congress leader celebrates the unbeaten champions at 10 Janpath, calling their journey a symbol of courage, discipline, and national pride.

New Delhi, Nov 27 : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday hosted the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team  champions of the inaugural T20 World Cup  at his 10 Janpath residence in New Delhi.

Sharing photographs from the meeting on X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Today, I had the honour of hosting the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, the proud winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup, in New Delhi.” He added that the team’s historic achievement sends a powerful message of courage and possibility. “Their grit, discipline, and extraordinary spirit are an inspiration for the entire nation. India is proud of these champions.”

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team for the Blind, led by Captain Deepika TC of Karnataka and Vice Captain Ganga S. Kadam of Maharashtra, remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Their campaign showcased outstanding teamwork, resilience, and remarkable skill.

In a high-intensity final against Nepal, India clinched a seven wicket victory in Colombo on 23 November. After restricting Nepal to 114/5, the team chased down the target in just 12.1 overs, powered by stellar performances across the squad.

Phula Saren anchored the chase with a match-winning 44 off 27 balls, earning the Player of the Match title. Captain Deepika TC also delivered an all-round standout performance throughout the tournament, including a memorable 91 off 58 balls against Australia earlier in the series.

Karuna Pangi Kumari, a Class 10 student from Visakhapatnam, impressed with a composed 42 in the final. Durga Yevle, born in 2003, added to the inspirational narrative of the team with her remarkable journey from a small town to the global stage through sheer determination and hard work.
