Rahul Gandhi, Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Hold Breakfast Meeting

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also joins the meeting as India and Malaysia discuss bilateral relations.

NEW DELHI, Sept 13: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over breakfast in New Delhi, with the two leaders discussing India-Malaysia relations and areas of mutual interest.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also attended the meeting. The Congress shared photographs showing Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi with Ibrahim during the breakfast interaction.

The meeting took place a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with the Malaysian leader on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Modi and Ibrahim discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in key sectors, including trade, semiconductors, infrastructure and defence.

Malaysia is a partner country in the BRICS grouping and has also emerged as an important partner for India within the ASEAN framework.

The interaction between Rahul Gandhi and Ibrahim comes amid continued efforts to deepen India’s engagement with Malaysia across economic, strategic and regional areas.
