‘Rahul Gandhi Not Fit to Lead’: BJP Says INDIA Alliance Losing Unity

BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of weakening opposition unity

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday intensified its criticism of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of failing as a leader and weakening the opposition INDIA alliance through repeated controversial remarks.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that internal divisions within the INDIA bloc were deepening rapidly and suggested that the alliance could soon disintegrate.
Patra alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s leadership had become a burden for both the Congress party and its allies. According to him, growing dissatisfaction among alliance partners could eventually lead to a complete breakdown of the opposition coalition in the coming weeks.
The BJP leader’s remarks came shortly after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised allegations of “vote theft” in elections through a post on X. Gandhi claimed that several BJP MPs had benefitted from electoral irregularities and questioned the legitimacy of certain election victories.
In his post, Gandhi also referred to the Haryana government using the term “infiltrators,” a statement that sparked a sharp reaction from the BJP. The ruling party accused the Congress leader of insulting democratic institutions and disrespecting the mandate given by voters.
Responding strongly, Patra defended the Haryana government and said elected representatives were chosen by the people through constitutional processes. He questioned how an elected government could be labelled as “infiltrators” and described Gandhi’s comments as irresponsible and politically motivated.
The BJP spokesperson further accused the Congress leadership of repeatedly undermining public verdicts whenever election results did not favour the opposition. He said such statements damage democratic credibility and create unnecessary political confrontation.
The exchange of allegations has once again highlighted the escalating political tensions between the BJP and the Congress ahead of key electoral battles, with both sides trading sharp accusations over leadership, governance and electoral integrity.
