Congress Launches 'MeraGharAapkaGhar' Campaign as Rahul Gandhi Vacates Bungalow

22-03-2023 : After being disqualified as a member of parliament and vacating his official bungalow on Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated that he had paid the price for speaking the truth. Despite this, he intends to continue raising concerns about issues such as price hikes and corruption with even more vigor. Following his conviction in a defamation case in Gujarat last month, the Lok Sabha secretariat instructed Rahul to vacate his official residence on Tughlaq Lane by April 22. On Saturday, he handed over the keys to the Central Public Works Department and moved to his mother Sonia Gandhi’s residence. Although he had resided in the bungalow for almost 20 years, he claimed to have no problem leaving it behind and staying with his mother for a time before figuring out his next move.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has launched a social media campaign called “MeraGharAapkaGhar” (My home is your home), with several party leaders “offering” their homes to Rahul. According to the party, Rahul’s relationship with the public is unbreakable, with some seeing him as their son, brother, or leader. Despite being convicted and sentenced to two years in jail by a Surat court for his remarks about the Modi surname in 2019, Rahul remains fearless and determined to continue his struggle, according to his sister Priyanka Gandhi. The Congress leader will now seek relief from the Gujarat High Court after his review petition was rejected by the Surat session court.
