Rain Hits Plains, Snowfall Recorded in Higher Reaches of J&K

Srinagar, Mar 11: Several parts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed rainfall over the past 24 hours, while moderate snowfall was reported in a few higher altitude areas, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures across the region.

Snowfall Reported in Multiple Districts

According to officials from the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain and snowfall occurred across the Union Territory during the last day. Higher reaches in districts such as Kishtwar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kupwara and Bandipora experienced moderate snowfall, adding to the winter-like conditions in mountainous areas.

Weather Likely to Remain Dry Till March 14

The MET department said weather conditions are expected to remain generally dry across the region until March 14. However, cloudy skies accompanied by light rain in the plains and snowfall in higher reaches are likely between March 15 and March 20.

Advisory Issued for Farmers

In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the department has advised farmers to temporarily suspend agricultural operations until March 12 to avoid potential losses caused by rainfall and snowfall. Officials said the situation will continue to be monitored and further advisories will be issued if necessary.
