Rajasthan High Court stays FIR against Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in defective car case

Jodhpur, Sep 11: Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have secured relief from the Rajasthan High Court in a defective car case, with the court staying the FIR filed against them in Bharatpur. The complaint was lodged by a local car owner who alleged that the actors, as Hyundai Motors brand ambassadors, sold him a defective vehicle.

The FIR had also named six Hyundai officials alongside the actors. Seeking quashing of the complaint, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone approached the Rajasthan High Court, arguing that their association with Hyundai was limited to promotional activities, and they had no involvement in the technical or operational aspects of the vehicles.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal represented Shah Rukh Khan, while advocate Madhav Mitra appeared for Deepika Padukone. Both legal teams emphasized that the actors had no direct connection with the car’s quality.

During the hearing, Justice Sudesh Bansal observed that the FIR lacked sufficient factual basis. Consequently, the court issued an interim stay on the FIR, granting temporary relief to the actors and the Hyundai officials. The next hearing is scheduled for September 25.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are reuniting on screen in the upcoming film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also marks the debut of SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan and features actors like Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, and Raghav Juyal.

The duo has previously shared the screen in hits like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Jawan, and Pathaan. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on both the legal proceedings and their next cinematic venture.
