Teacher Placed Under Suspension in Rajouri Following Allegations of Misconduct and Intoxication

Rajouri, Feb 27 – A Teacher Grade-III posted at Government Primary School Lanjhar, Zone Moughla, has been suspended with immediate effect by the Office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Rajouri, following serious allegations of misconduct, indiscipline, and dereliction of duty.

An official order cited a report from the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Moughla, stating that during an inspection on February 18, 2026, the teacher was allegedly found intoxicated on school premises during working hours, negatively impacting the academic environment.

The teacher had earlier been issued a notice seeking an explanation for repeated absence from duty and alleged consumption of alcohol during school hours, but no satisfactory improvement in conduct was observed.

Additional written complaints from staff, parents, and members of the public alleged misbehavior, harassment of colleagues, negligence in teaching responsibilities, and conduct unbecoming of a government servant.

The Chief Education Officer termed the actions as grave misconduct and a violation of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Conduct Rules, 1971. Consequently, suspension has been ordered under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, pending a departmental inquiry.

During the suspension, the teacher will remain attached to the office of the Zonal Education Officer, Khawas, and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules.
