ITANAGAR, Aug 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met newly elected and nominated Rajya Sabha members, including Arunachal Pradesh MP Tai Tagak, at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. During the interaction, the Prime Minister urged the parliamentarians to uphold the highest standards of parliamentary conduct and embrace the principle of “Nation First” while carrying out their legislative responsibilities.
Congratulating the new members, Modi highlighted the importance of humility, discipline and continuous learning in public life. He encouraged them to draw inspiration from experienced parliamentarians and focus on making meaningful contributions that strengthen democratic institutions and serve the country’s long-term interests.
The Prime Minister said the effectiveness of a Member of Parliament should not be judged solely by the number of speeches or questions raised in the House, but by the quality of ideas, constructive debates and initiatives that benefit the nation. He also called on the lawmakers to participate in parliamentary proceedings with dignity, wisdom and a collaborative spirit.
During the meeting, Tai Tagak thanked the Prime Minister for his consistent support and guidance towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh. He expressed appreciation for the Centre’s sustained efforts in expanding infrastructure, improving connectivity and creating new opportunities across the northeastern state.
Sharing his personal journey, Tagak said his rise from a remote village to representing Arunachal Pradesh in Parliament reflects the opportunities made possible through inclusive governance and development-oriented policies. He described his experience as an example of how dedicated leadership can empower people from even the most remote regions of the country.
The Rajya Sabha member also acknowledged the Centre’s investments in road and border infrastructure, communication networks, education, livelihood generation and public institutions, saying these initiatives have significantly contributed to the state’s overall progress.
Reaffirming his commitment to public service, Tagak said he would work tirelessly to advance Arunachal Pradesh’s development while contributing to the national vision of building a stronger, developed and self-reliant India.
