Reasi Cloudburst Triggers Flash Floods, No Casualties Reported in J&K

Panic gripped Maadi village in Poni tehsil as sudden floods hit at 3 am; authorities confirm no casualties or property loss.

JAMMU, Sept 15: A cloudburst triggered flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district early Monday, sparking fear and panic among residents of mountainous Maadi village in Poni tehsil.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 3:00 am, when villagers were jolted awake by a loud blast-like sound, followed by sudden flooding. “There was a huge sound like a blast, and within no time our houses were flooded. We ran with our children to safer, higher areas,” a tribal villager recounted.

Police teams rushed to the spot and reviewed the situation, confirming that no casualties or property damage were reported. However, a large mudslide and debris blocked the village road, which was later cleared by the Public Works Department with the help of deployed machinery.

Authorities assured that the situation is under control and all residents are safe.
