Red Fort Blast Investigation: Delhi Court Extends Custody of 3 Doctors, Preacher

Accused sent back to NIA custody as agency widens probe into ‘white-collar’ terror module behind November 10 suicide attack.

New Delhi, Dec 8: A Delhi court on Monday extended the National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody of three doctors and a preacher for four more days in connection with the November 10 Red Fort blast case.

The four accused Dr Muzammil Ganai, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Shaheena Saeed and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay  were produced before Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna upon the completion of their earlier 10-day NIA custody granted on November 29.

The proceedings, held at Patiala House Courts, took place amid tight security, with mediapersons barred from entering the courtroom.

So far, the NIA has arrested seven individuals linked to the case, which investigators say is tied to a “white-collar terror module” uncovered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to the NIA, the agency is following multiple leads related to the suicide bombing and is conducting coordinated searches across several states to identify and track more suspects involved in the attack.

The blast occurred on November 10 when an explosives laden Hyundai i20, driven by Dr Umar-un-Nabi, detonated outside the historic Red Fort, killing 15 people and injuring several others.

Earlier reports from PTI revealed that the sophisticated module, allegedly led by a group of doctors, had been scouting for a suicide bomber since last year, with Umar believed to be the key planner of the operation.
