The Jammu Kashmir government Thursday admitted that regularisation of services had been misused in Jammu Kashmir over the years.
Addressing a news conference, Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam said many people had been appointed in government jobs either by backdoor entry or through some influence.
“Regularisation of services has always been a big issue. We have no hesitation to admit that regularisation has been misused. Many daily wagers and contractual have been appointed who had connections in power corridors, and later get regularised,” Subrahmanyam said.
Subrahmanyam said “Regularisation is nobody’s right, there is Supreme Court ruling, you read the newspaper about it and how the Punjab High Court struck down the regularisation order. But at the same time, we are not throwing them out of the jobs who are seeking regularisation, we are trying to do it in a systematic way by looking at various aspects including financial implications.”
Subrahmanyam said even though there was mismanagement in the regularisation of services, the government was trying to accommodate in a systematic way by looking at various aspects including financial implications.
According to the government estimates over 1,00,000 daily rated workers working in various departments are awaiting regularisation.
“If I tell you that because of these schemes there will be no vacancy till 2032. But we have regularised 40,000 teachers under Rehbar-e-Taleem recruits. It is unprecedented,” he said
