Relief Ops in Full Swing as PM Modi, HM Shah Speak to Uttarakhand CM Dhami on Cloudburst

Centre, state machinery on high alert after cloudburst in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara; rescue operations in full swing

Dehradun, Sep 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday reviewed the situation in Uttarakhand after a massive cloudburst struck the Sahastradhara region of Dehradun, triggering flash floods and widespread destruction.

The cloudburst, which occurred late Monday night, caused severe flooding in the Karligaad rivulet, sweeping away several shops and leaving at least two people feared missing. According to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office, both leaders assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of the Centre’s complete support, stating that the Union Government stands firmly with the state in this hour of crisis.

“The Chief Minister informed that the administrative machinery is fully active in the affected areas, and rescue and relief operations are being carried out on a war footing,” the CMO said.

Following the disaster, CM Dhami inspected the rain-hit areas of Dehradun along with local MLAs and senior officials. He directed authorities to ensure immediate provision of relief materials, safe shelter, food, water, and health facilities to affected families.

“The state government stands with every affected family. NDRF, SDRF, police, and local administration are continuously active on the ground,” CM Dhami assured.

Rescue teams remain deployed across vulnerable areas, with efforts underway to trace the missing persons and restore essential services.
