Jammu, March 13: Former Dy Chief Minister Shri Tara Chand demanded the early restoration of statehood for the people of J&K, as it is their right, which was given to them by the Dogra rulers much more before Independence. They were enjoying the special status with more benefits and concessions, living a happy and prosperous life in a state enriched with the blessings of the Almighty. All of a sudden, this status was snatched away from them converting the state to Union Territory with the promise to restore the statehood as early as possible during recent held elections but now the innocent people are feeling deceived by the government.
Tara Chand warned the Govts. to stop befooling the innocents as this sparked outrage across the region and people are compelled to rethink. Condemning the Industrial policy of the Govt., he said that outsiders are enjoying the benefits announced by the Govt. but the local youth are still deprived of even employment in these industries. He said industrial development should not be at the cost of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Dy C.M. said that the people of J&K were expecting 11 Kg. ration to an individual, 12 cylenders per family and even levied ration with rice, sugar and wheat to all on subsidized rates, as this was announced by the parties at helm of affairs but all is seeming to be false promises to lure voters and at the time of elections.
Condemning the callous attitude of the Govts for daily and need based workers, Tara Chand said these workers were engaged by the respective governments to implement the various schemes in the state and also paved way to provide employment at every door step but now the Govts. are shouldering responsibility to others for their regularization. They were engaged by responsible Govts. not by an individual for his personal benefits. Most of them got retired without any benefit. He recalled that under Rehbr-e-Taleem, Rehber-e-Ziraat, and Rehbr-e-Khel, the educated and skilled youth were also engaged that way by the Govts. All got regularized with handsome salaries but daily wagers are still deprived of.
Former Dy Chief Minister expressed hope that Govt. should fulfill all promises made by them during elections and the people of Jammu and Kashmir also feel a sigh of relief, as they don’t want extraordinary things, only restoration of their constitutional rights with guarantee of land and job is their main demand.
