Retired Officials Demand Rahul Gandhi’s Apology Over Parliament Protest

New Delhi — More than 200 retired armed forces officers, former civil servants, diplomats, and lawyers have accused Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi of breaching parliamentary decorum during a recent protest and have called on him to issue a public apology.

Allegations of Misconduct in Parliament

In an open letter endorsed by 204 signatories, the group claimed that Rahul Gandhi, along with several MPs, was seen sitting on the steps of Parliament while consuming tea and biscuits, which they described as “wholly unbecoming of members of the nation’s highest legislative body.”

The letter argued that the steps of Parliament are not a place for political theatrics and that such actions demonstrated a “deliberate defiance of the chair” and disregard for parliamentary authority.

Call for Apology and Accountability

The retired officials emphasized that Gandhi’s conduct reflected “an attitude of arrogance and entitlement” and urged him to apologize to the nation. They stressed the need for introspection to preserve the solemnity, authority, and institutional sanctity of Parliament.
