Rich Tributes Paid to Former National Conference General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on His 8th Death Anniversary

Sheikh Nazir Ahmed Remembered for His Contribution to the Mass Movement for Dignity and Honour of the People of Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU FEBRUARY 24- Rich tributes were paid to former National Conference General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his 8th death anniversary with senior leaders leading the remembrances.

Leading the party leaders and prominent workers in paying homage to the late leader at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning, Provincial President Mr Rattan Lal Gupta said that Sheikh Nazir will always inspire the National Conference cadre for his simplicity, honesty, selfless service, organizational capabilities and political acumen, adding that he stood by his cherished principles till last without opting any position of power.

Mr Gupta said that Sheikh Nazir was one of the rare and front-ranking leaders across the country, who lived a very simple life and served the people most.

In his homage, former minister and Additional General Secretary  Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said that Sheikh Nazir was a pillar of the organization, who remained connected with the cadre at grass roots level all his life.

Dwelling upon various facets of his illustrious political odyssey, Dr. Kamaal  said:  “Nazir Sahib has left an indelible mark of selfless service which will continue to guide and inspire the younger generations and influence their political journey.”

Former minister and Central Secretary Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra described Sheikh Nazir as a pioneering leader who stood for high values in politics and public life. He said the former General Secretary worked tirelessly for the betterment of the people, especially the poor, and strengthened the party at grass roots level.

Recalling the qualities of head and heart of the former General Secretary, the Provincial Secretary Jammu Sheikh Bashir said: “The best tribute to Nazir Sahib would be to strive for steering the state to peace and progress besides empowering the people at grass roots level.”

On his 8th death anniversary we salute Nazir Sahab’s legacy and pay glowing tributes to him”, Sheikh Bashir said.

Central Zone President and former Minister  Mr Babu Rampaul  also paid tributes to the late leader and said Nazir Sahib shaped the destiny of the National Conference as a strong mass movement that strived for dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

Former minister and Zone President Udhampur Reasi Mr Abdul Gani Malik said that service to the people remained the focal point of the life of Sheikh Nazir Sahib. He said the late leader remained steadfast in his commitment to the party and worked to ameliorate the lot of the people.

In his homage, Provincial President Vijay Lochan SC Cell Jammu  said that Sheikh Nazir Sahib worked tirelessly for uplifting the people belonging to down-trodden sections of the society.
