Hollywood comedian Rosie O’Donnell has revealed that returning to the United States has become a challenge due to her long-standing conflict with former President Donald Trump. Speaking on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast, O’Donnell explained that she missed her daughter Dakota’s college graduation because her security team advised against traveling to the U.S., citing safety concerns.
“They didn’t think it was wise,” she said, noting that Trump perceives her as “his nemesis” and could use her presence to rally supporters. O’Donnell moved to Ireland earlier this year, less than a week before Trump began his second term, and is in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship. She emphasized that her decision was an act of self-preservation, not a political statement, and hopes to return to the U.S. only when all citizens can safely enjoy equal rights.
Reflecting on her experiences during Trump’s first term, O’Donnell described the personal attacks she faced, including criticism of her weight and lifestyle. “I’ve seen many male comedians say similar or worse things about him, and they don’t face the same response,” she noted. She labeled Trump as “misogynistic, sexist, and cruel” and highlighted how the ongoing feud has caused both personal and professional difficulties.
