New Delhi, Oct 8: India’s cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar extended heartfelt wishes to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the occasion of its 93rd Air Force Day, lauding the courage and commitment of the Air Warriors who safeguard the nation’s skies.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tendulkar wrote, “As the dreams and aspirations of 1.4 billion+ Indians take flight, the Indian Air Force stands guard with courage and dedication, helping our nation soar higher. Proud and honoured to be a part of @IAF_MCC. Happy Indian Air Force Day! Jai Hind!”
The 93rd Indian Air Force Day celebrations took place at the Hindon Air Force Station, showcasing the IAF’s strength, precision, and technological prowess. This year’s event paid a special tribute to Operation Sindoor, a key milestone in India’s air defence history.
The celebrations featured an impressive march past, aerobatic displays, and a dynamic showcase of fighter aircraft, including the Rafale and Sukhoi-30 MKI, underscoring the IAF’s operational excellence and discipline.
Founded on October 8, 1932, as an auxiliary force of British India, the Indian Air Force has grown into one of the world’s most formidable air forces, dedicated to protecting the country’s airspace and supporting humanitarian and disaster-relief missions.
Cricket fraternity members also joined in the tribute. India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir wrote, “Salute to the protectors of our skies #IndianAirForceDay.”
Former opener Shikhar Dhawan added, “A salute to the ones who truly own the skies… Celebrating one of the best Air Forces in the world.”
On the sports front, the Indian cricket team is preparing for the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, starting October 10. The team will then travel to Australia for a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series later this month, gearing up for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
