Sagar denounces PSA detention of Doda MLA, warns of erosion of democracy

In a statement issued from the party’s Nawa-e-Subha headquarters, Sagar decried the detention as an outright violation of democratic principles in the region. He stressed that MLA Malik posed no threat to public order, denouncing the use of the PSA as an abuse of power.

“The arrest of an elected representative, with no legitimate grounds, is both unjust and deeply alarming,” Sagar remarked. “When an elected official can be detained under such an oppressive law, it sends a dangerous signal to the people, eroding their confidence in the democratic framework.”

Sagar also raised concerns about the LG government’s intentions, pointing out that the overreach of an unelected administration against a people’s representative threatens to destabilize public trust in democracy.

“This is not just an assault on an individual, but a direct attack on the very essence of democratic values in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, demanding an immediate revocation of the PSA order.
